The High School auditorium was filled with pride at last month’s board of education meeting as the district recognized its first Regeneron STS Scholar, Nicole Khaimov. Nicole was recently distinguished as one of the top 300 in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2020. Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Technology Dr. Michael Israel presented Nicole with a certificate of recognition and High School Principal Antonio Santana presented Evan Goldaper, A.P. Capstone teacher, with a certificate of merit from Regeneron for his support and guidance in the research project. Additionally, Nicole’s research mentor and mother of Landing Elementary Principal Alexa Doeschner, Dr. Elena Bront de Avila, was recognized for her dedication to the project.

Following, students from Finley Middle School presented to the BOE about their recent trip to Albany to participate in the YMCA New York Youth and Government Program.
“This program has grown significantly due to the hard work and dedication of these students. We are so proud of what they have done in Albany to represent Glen Cove in such an honorable way,” said Superintendent Dr. Rianna.
