Glen Cove High School ninth-graders were visited by Helen Turner, director of Youth Education at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County, on Oct. 3.

Ms. Turner presented “Understanding Impact: Deconstructing Symbols of Hate,” which focused on the power of kindness and making informed decisions that are not biased or discriminatory, during the students’ social studies classes. The presentation empowered students to become upstanders and understand that their actions and decisions should be based on morals and values that will encourage and support openness and diversity.

Special thanks to Ms. Turner and the Holocaust Memorial Tolerance Center of Nassau County in Glen Cove for this powerful presentation.
