National Merit Scholarship Winner

High School senior Nicole Khaimov was named a $2,500 scholarship winner in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Nicole was chosen among more than 15,000 talented finalists from each state, who were judged based on their skills, accomplishments and potential for success in future college and university studies. Nicole was selected through a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors based on her academic record, the level of difficulty of courses studied and grades earned, scores from two standardized tests, contributions and leadership in school and the community, a finalist essay and a high school official recommendation.

Nicole is the Class of 2020 valedictorian, the district’s first Regeneron Scholar, National Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction and is enrolled in the district’s AP Capstone program. She is the president for the Mu Alpha Theta honor society, treasurer for the Rho Kappa honor society and is a member of the National Honor Society. Nicole is also the president of the Mock Trial team and Mathletes vice president. In addition to her academic accomplishments and activities, she is the co-captain of the varsity tennis team.

Nicole plans on pursuing a degree in computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Congratulations to Nicole on this wonderful accomplishment!
