Last month, Landing Elementary School third and fourth graders were visited by the American Red Cross to learn about The Pillowcase Project, a youth preparedness project that teaches students about natural hazards, safety, emotional coping skills, how to prepare for disasters, and the importance of personal preparedness and sharing knowledge with friends and family.

Based on three steps: Learn, Practice, and Share, these steps provide a memorable way for students to learn and retain important preparedness messages. Following the presentation, students received a pillowcase to create a personal emergency supply kit and “The My Preparedness Workbook”. Each student then took the time to personalize their pillowcase.

Landing School thanks the Preparedness Educators from the American Red Cross for teaching our students how to be prepared in an emergency.
