Kinetic and Potential Energy

 Earlier this month, Mr. Ingegno’s 7th grade science class launched their physics unit with a lesson on potential and kinetic energy by building roller coasters. Using an animation, the students learned how potential and kinetic energy is transferred through the roller coaster train car through the ups, downs , twists and turns of the coaster.  The students then identified and labeled each part of the roller coaster that has the greatest amount of potential and kinetic energy.  Later, the students applied their knowledge of physics by drafting their own rollercoasters and bringing them to life using play-doh.
