High School class of 2020 valedictorian Nicole Khaimov has been awarded as one of the top 300 in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2020. Nicole received this prestigious award from her participation in the district’s research program, which began under the urging of Superintendent Dr. Maria Rianna. She was selected among nearly 2,000 applicants from 659 high schools across 49 states for her research project, “Emotional Intelligence and Moral Competence Across Age Groups: A Study of Secondary School Students and Teachers.” As a result of her accomplishment, both she and Glen Cove High School will be awarded $2,000.

The Regeneron Science Talent Search is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. It focuses on identifying, inspiring and engaging the nation’s most promising young scientists who are creating the ideas that could solve society’s most urgent challenges.
